James A Gessler, MD

	Dr. Jim Gessler received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed residencies in aerospace medicine at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, Pensacola, Florida, and in ophthalmology at Bethesda Naval Hospital. His military career included assignments as the Senior Medical Officer, USS Independence, Norfolk, Virginia, and as Chief of Ophthalmology, Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia. Practicing ophthalmology in Springfield since 1986, he has served as the Medical Director of the Eye Laser Center and as the chairman of the Ophthalmology Department, St. Johns Pyhsicians and Clinics. He is currently a staff ophthalmologist with St. Johns Eye Specialists. Dr. Gessler and his partner are currently the only eye surgeons in the Ozarks to offer LASIK with LADARVision.
